the zurich district - size matters

the integrated urban development concept of nuremberg doesn`t  include the spatial development of the zurich district. nevertheless, the arrangement of the new subway station "großreuth bei schweinau" forces to arise a new acceptance of urban density. closely related to this is the intention to create a new urban district, which promises a high quality of life and the potential to provide internal connections with neighboring quarters.

all neighboring quarters are defined by strong identities due to their urban scale and their location within the urban context. the new zurich district should act as a mediator between these different scales. on the one hand a relatively high density will be reached, on the other hand each of the new "island-structures" ensures a strong permeability between all parts of the urban network.

the new zurich district is divided into two parts: the densely populated north and the wide, extensive south, which is characterized by the distincitive landscape park. "urbanity" - for us - means to bring added value for the public and private space by the interaction between density and vastness. the everyday life takes place in the multifaceted public space and by this arises social inclusion of all inhabitants regardless of age and social or economic background. pedestrians and cyclists have priority in the public space. social services, a district retail center and unities for working and living will also be part of the independent district

das züricher quartier - size matters

das züricher quartier wird nicht explizit im integriertem stadtentwicklungskonzept der stadt nürnberg erfasst. trotzdem besteht entwicklungsdruck, um die erforderliche siedlungsdichte zu erzeugen, die zur auslastung der neuen u-bahn-haltestelle "großreuth bei schweinau" nötig ist. eng damit verbunden ist das ziel, ein quartierszentrum entstehen zu lassen, das eine hohe lebensqualität erwarten lässt und das potential hat, die bestehenden nachbarquartiere mit einzubinden.

alle benachbarten siedlungsstrukturen haben starke teilidentitäten, die durch ihren maßstab und ihre spezielle lage im gebiet gekennzeichnet sind. das neue züricher quartier wirkt als maßstabsvermittler dieser nachbarsiedlungen. einerseits wird eine hohe dichte erzeugt, andererseits sichern die einzelnen inselstrukturen eine hohe durchlässigkeit, um das quartier mit den benachbarten siedlungen zu vernetzen.

das züricher quartier gliedert sich in zwei zonen: den urbanen dichten norden und den offenen landschaftlichen süden. urbanität bedeutet für uns, dass durch das zusammenspiel von dichte und weite ein mehrwert für den privaten und öffentlichen raum geschaffen wird. das alltagsleben findet in diesem vielfältigen öffentlichen raum statt und bindet dadurch alle bewohner ein, unabhängig von ihrer sozialen zugehörigkeit. fußgänger und fahrradfahrer haben priorität im öffentlichen raum. durch ein attraktives quartierszentrum mit nahversorgung, sozialen einrichtungen und der einheit von wohnen und arbeiten wird ein eigenständiges quartier der kurzen wege geschaffen.
